Willow as the school tree goes back to the year 1925. Before the late Dr. New Il Han came back to Korea from U.S.A., he visited Dr. Suh Jae-Pil who devoted himself to the independence movement of Korea with struggling against Japanese brutality gave a wood engraving to Dr. New and asked not to forget the identity as a Korean and explained the meaning of the a wood engraving. There was a willow tree in the wood engraving which stands for Dr. Suh’s wish for Dr. New to accomplish his dream like a big willow that could stand much adversity and keep up tenaciously and densely growing.
Later, this wood engraving has been used as the trade mark of Yuhan pharmaceutical company. Also it becomes the school tree of Yuhan since then. |
